Cancelling Audible Subscription on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store

If you subscribed to Audible through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you must cancel your subscription on those platforms. In the following sections, you will see what steps to complete when canceling your Audible subscription via each app.

How To Cancel Your Audible Membership on Your iPhone

You must complete the following steps to cancel your Audible subscription on an iPhone:

  1. Open your Settings app.
  2. Tap on your name and select Subscriptions.

Why Canceling Subscriptions Can Be Challenging

Most subscription services make cancellations seem easy, but that is not always the case. The process can be confusing and time-consuming, often by design. You may have to navigate different pages and prompts and sometimes contact customer support to finalize the cancellation, which typically results in you being charged for another month of services you no longer want or getting locked into another subscription plan.

Luckily, there is a way to avoid unwarranted charges while navigating a complex subscription cancellation procedure. You can start paying for your subscriptions via virtual cards—temporary, randomly generated 16-digit card numbers linked to your credit card, debit card, or bank account, which you can use for online purchases.

These cards mask your real financial information with random card credentials, protecting it from unauthorized access during online transactions. If there is a data breach on the merchant's servers, only your virtual card information might become exposed, while your real card and bank account will remain protected.

Some independent virtual card providers, such as Privacy, also enable you to keep close control over your finances and can help you prevent excessive and unjustified charges from sneaky merchants and subscription services. Sign up for Privacy Virtual Cards and enjoy robust security features, rich customization options, and comprehensive control over your subscriptions and online spending.

Privacy Is Your Trusted and Reliable Virtual Card Provider

Privacy offers a secure, reliable, and convenient way to manage your Audible and other subscriptions and prevent unwanted charges.

Privacy Virtual Cards can be connected to a debit card or a bank account and are accepted at most merchants that accept U.S. Visa® and MasterCard® payments, such as your favorite subscription services like Paramount Plus, Spotify, HBO Max, DashPass, or Discord Nitro. Any U.S. resident over 18 with a checking account at a U.S. bank or credit union can sign up for Privacy.

There are two types of virtual cards you can request and generate with Privacy:

Card Type How It Works

What It’s Convenient For

Single-Use Card
This type of card is valid for a single online transaction, and it closes shortly after this transaction is completed.
It is convenient for purchasing on unfamiliar websites or those you don’t plan to visit again.
Merchant-Locked Card
This type of card “locks” to the first merchant you use them at and can't be used elsewhere.
The Merchant-Locked Card is perfect for recurring payments such as utility bills and subscriptions.

You can set spending limits on your Merchant-Locked Cards, which gives you full control over your spending. Privacy will decline any transaction that exceeds the set spending limit, ensuring no unauthorized charges go through. For instance, if you’re subscribed to the Audible Premium Plus plan, which costs $14.95, and the merchant wants to move you to a higher plan, the transaction will be declined.

If you want to cancel your subscription, you can pause or close your virtual card to prevent unwarranted subscription charges. The action won’t affect your real card or bank account. You should know that Privacy will only decline the charges on your card—you must contact Audible to complete the cancellation process.
