Take Back Control Of Your Subscription Payments

Disney Plus is a well-known streaming platform hosting an array of TV shows and movies, most notably by Pixar and Marvel. Despite its comprehensive offer and popularity, the platform may not meet the expectations of all subscribers. Be it because of the recent price increase, a desire to try out an alternative platform, or overall dissatisfaction with the service, some users may decide to opt out of their subscriptions.

If you realize the service is no longer needed and want to cancel Disney Plus, follow the guidelines in this article. You’ll find out what steps to take depending on the device you use and how to limit unexpected charges by any subscription-based merchant.

The content in this article is current as of November 2023. Please visit the official Disney Plus website or reach out to customer support to acquire the latest information.

Can You Cancel Disney Plus Anytime?

Yes—you can cancel your Disney Plus subscription or free trial whenever you want to. Automatic payments will cease starting the following billing period, and you’ll have access to the service until the end of the current billing cycle.

Although not required, it’s advisable to stop the subscription at least a few days before the renewal date. That way, the company has enough time to process your cancellation request, and you can avoid potentially having to pay for another month of services. Note that Disney Plus won’t notify you when your free trial comes to an end, so you should mark that date in your calendar to avoid a subscription renewal.

Why Some Subscriptions Are Hard To Cancel and How To Approach Them

In some cases, the subscription cancellation process may not be a simple endeavor. Instead of allowing you to cancel as easily as you signed up, some companies may require you to jump through hoops in hopes you’ll remain subscribed for longer. Their methods are various, from implementing long and complicated online cancellation funnels to requiring you to wait for hours on phone hold.

If you don’t pay attention and accidentally miss a step in the cancellation process, you may end up being charged for another month of the subscription you don’t want. Even if you complete the process successfully, you still may not be safe from unwarranted charges. That’s where virtual cards come in as an invaluable solution.

Virtual cards are linked to your payment card or bank account but protect your financial information by using different card numbers at checkout. Some virtual card providers, such as Privacy, also allow you to fine-tune your cards’ settings, giving you more control over your spending.
